Ivan Kibangou Ngoy is a development worker with expertise in democratic governance and local development. He is currently Executive Director of Global Participe, a non-governmental organisation that provides direct assistance to indigenous peoples and local communities in their efforts to know, obtain and exercise their land, forest and human rights, with a focus on mitigating climate change, reducing conflict and promoting gender equality.
Long before that, Ivan initiated and implemented several projects on democratic governance, peace, the protection of civic space and internet freedom in the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville). He set up the CDHD (Collectif d'ONG pour les droits de l'homme et de développement démocratique du Congo Brazzaville), which he headed from 2002 to 2005, and in 2023 he initiated the Réseau Congolais des Juristes Spécialistes des Médias. He is the author and co-author of several reports and studies on the human rights situation and freedom of the press and communication, and has led several observation missions for pluralist elections.
