Open Data Editor
Open Data Editor is a no-code desktop application, beta-released in September 2023, with the aim of offering the full Frictionless experience to non-technical users. It is being developed in the context of Frictionless Data, an initiative at OKFN producing a collection of specifications and software for the publication, transport, and consumption of data.
 

Job overview

We are in search of a skilled UX Consultant. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating the user experience of our Open Data Editor application. Your insights and recommendations will play a crucial role in refining our platform to ensure it delivers an intuitive and engaging user experience. Previous experience in data products is highly valued. Experience in web content accessibility is an advantage.

Responsibilities 

  • Conduct a thorough assessment of the user experience of our Open Data Editor application.
  • Evaluate the usability, accessibility, and overall user satisfaction of the platform.
  • Identify areas for improvement and provide actionable recommendations to enhance the user experience.
  • Compile and present assessment results to the team.
  • Analyse user feedback to gain insights into user behaviour and preferences.
  • Collaborate with our development team and product owner to prioritise and implement UX improvements.
  • Review/create well described issues in our project repository so developers and contributors have all the information required to work on them.

Deliverables

  • A comprehensive User Experience Assessment Report, detailing findings from the assessment of the Open Data Editor application. This report should include insights on usability, accessibility, and user satisfaction, along with identified areas for improvement.
  • An Actionable Recommendations Document outlining specific recommendations to enhance the user experience of the application. Recommendations should be prioritised based on impact and feasibility, and include clear action steps for implementation.
  • Well-described issues in the project repository, detailing specific UX improvements to be made. Each issue should include clear descriptions, acceptance criteria, and any relevant design assets or references.
  • A presentation summarising assessment results, key findings, and recommendations. The presentation should be designed to effectively communicate findings to the team.

This is a consultancy project. Consultants need to have good connectivity and conduct the activities with their own equipment, including video conferencing equipment.
